Samsung Galaxy S7 news: handset rumored to come with a magnesium alloy body

(Samsung)Galaxy S7 could have a metal body unlike the Galaxy S6

In the smartphone arena, changes happen rapidly, which is why, it is no surprise that just a few months after the release of the Galaxy S6 and its curved screen sibling, the S6 Edge, reports suggest that Samsung is already working on the Galaxy S7.

Recently, there are rumors that Samsung is prepping to release the upcoming device in February of 2016 and now, it appears that someone has gotten hold of what the device might look like as there are indications that its body will be made of magnesium alloy.

Rumors about the use of magnesium alloy came courtesy of the Internet and they were immediately picked up by a number of websites including BGR, which stated that the Galaxy S7 would have the material on its front and back. This points toward the Galaxy S7 coming with a metal unibody design, pretty much like the devices in the iPhone lineup.

It is important to take note that the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, as well as the bigger pihablets, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge , only had aluminum frames. If a magnesium alloy is used, the S7 could become much lighter than the iPhone range including the recently released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

It could also reduce the possibility of the device bending, something that last year's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were affected by.

As for the magnesium alloy on the Galaxy S7, if it will indeed be used for the device's entire body, it will greatly help in dissipating the heat that arises when the smartphone is in operation.

In addition to this, it appears that Samsung is creating a new type of glass panel called the "Turtle Glass" to reduce its reliance on Gorilla Glass from Corning.
