Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors point to February 2016 launch

(Samsung)Samsung Galaxy S7 could come in two sizes

With Apple's latest iPhone lineup already on their way to the market, it is not surprising that a number of leaks have emerged about the upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship from rival, Samsung. The rumors have pointed toward the South Korean company unveiling two devices during the Mobile World Congress, which will take place in February next year.

The latest rumors about the Galaxy S7 include details about it allegedly passing through Geekbench with the name, Project Lucky, but GSMArena reports that it could not beat the Meizu PRO 5 aka Meizu Niux. Interestingly, the Meizu PRO 5, which is supposed to be released later this month, on the 25th, is said to have the Exynos 7420 chipset which has been used on several models released by Samsung including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5.

The Geekbench result showed the Meizu PRO 5 with a multi core score of 5593, beating the Galaxy S6 which has a score of around 5200. As for other news about the Galaxy S7, they point toward Samsung copying Apple's iPhone sizes. They will reportedly be releasing a 5.1-inch model, as well as a bigger 5.8 or 5.7-inch version.

This year, the Galaxy S6 and its curved screen model were of the same size and they appeared during the MWC in March. However, if rumors prove to be true, then it appears that Samsung would sway from their trend as they are said to be launching the Galaxy S7 in February of next year.

Other rumors also suggest that both the upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset and Samsung's homegrown Exynos M1 version will be used for the device. However, it is not clear if Samsung will opt to use the Snapdragon 820 for its international models and keep the Exynos M1 for models sold in Asia.

As for the specs of the Galaxy S7, BGR states that a device was spotted passing through AnTuTu and it had a Snapdragon 820 chipset onboard, 4 GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch screen.
