Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs: 4K display, no headphone jack

(Samsung)The Samsung Galaxy S8, the follow-up to the Galaxy S7 (pictured), will reportedly have 4K display and no headphone jack.

The tech world is abuzz with the features that are speculated to come with the Samsung Galaxy S8, which is expected to arrive in 2017. Some of these specifications include a 4K display and the lack of a headphone jack.

As fans all know, Samsung has not been having the best month, with a massive recall already made for its Galaxy Note 7 offering. The Note 7 is known to explode instantaneously, which has set the South Korean company back quite a few steps. Sales have plummeted and their reputation is on the line.

As previously reported, the recall is precisely the reason why rumors have started circulating that Samsung may be focusing all of its time and energy in developing the Galaxy S8. One analyst posits that the company may be gearing up to unveil the upcoming smartphone ahead of time to compensate for the losses that the Note 7 resulted in. However, no exact date has been announced.

People have now drawn their attention to the features that will arrive on the Galaxy S8. It has been reported that the South Korean tech giant is doing away with the 3.5-mm headphone jack, much like what Apple did to its latest offering, the iPhone 7. Even though the removal of the headphone jack was met with mixed response, it seems like Samsung is unmoved.

However, there has also been talk of Samsung opting to go for the USB Type-C port as the main connector of headphones. So, the disappearance of a headphone jack does not necessarily mean that wireless headphones will be needed.

Other than that, fans are excited about the possibility of a 4K display that will come with the handset. An iris scanner is also said to come with the device, as well as a dual-lens camera that is expected to take image and video quality up a notch.

Since these rumors have not been confirmed as of yet, fans should take this news with a grain of salt for now.
