Samsung Galaxy S8 specs, release date rumors: New flagship smartphone coming in 2017 with 5G connectivity?

(Samsung Official)Pictured above are Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. It is said that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will be out in the market in 2017.

Samsung is set to introduce a new device next month, the Galaxy Note 7, but even before its release, people now have their attention on another flagship – the Galaxy S8.

It is rumored that Samsung will unveil its next smartphone in 2017, specifically at next year's Mobile World Congress in March. As reported by ValueWalk, Samsung normally brings a new member of the S line during the event, so it's likely that the S8 will make its debut by then.

As for the specs, rumors have it that the Galaxy S8 will offer a 30-megapixel main camera with a 9-megapixel front camera. Slots for microSD card are also expected as well as a battery unit with 4200 mAh that helps power the device for longer periods.

Galaxys8info.com also shared that the upcoming smartphone will have a smarter processor and more functionality. Rumors are rife that the device will also have 4K display as well. Another highly rumored feature is the more improved Gorilla glass that the S8 is said to have.

As mentioned in ValueWalk's report, Galaxy S8 will come with a more improved version of the Gorilla glass. It claimed that the smartphone will have an 80 percent chance of survival if dropped from a height of 5.25 feet or 1.6 meters.

Samsung is also expected to launch two variants – the standard and the edge variants of the smartphone. The Edge series has been accepted well since it first came out via the S6 series and Samsung is likely to continue the trend. Rumor also has it that the S8 series will be the first devices to have 5G connectivity. However, as pointed out in GalaxyS8info, this is highly unlikely since the type of technology is not available until at least in 2018.

Samsung has not officially announced the existence of a new flagship so all the information mentioned above should be taken with a pinch of salt. It is expected that these rumors will get stronger in the long run.
