Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 appears in FCC and new leaked images

Samsung is reportedly preparing to release Galaxy Tab S2 in June this year to take on other upcoming tablets, such as Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and iPad Air 3. After a number of leaks and speculations, the device has finally been spotted passing through the U.S. regulator Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) website and has also showed up in new images on a French website.

Samsung is reportedly developing two versions of the Galaxy Tab S2 - the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 with a screen size of 9.7 inch and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 with a screen size of 8 inch. Weighing 9.17 ounces, or 260 grams and measuring 7.80 x 5.29 x 0.21 inch, or 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4 mm, the Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to be the thinnest tablet in the world.

The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is expected to feature an 8-inch AMOLED screen with 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution. Samsung's upcoming tablet will feature an 8MP primary camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, along with different memory and expandable storage options. The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will be powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor paired with 3GB RAM, though there are rumors that Samsung could make its Android tablet more powerful by using one of the latest batch of Intel processors for tablets, the 64-bit Intel Atom X5-Z8500 chipset.

Now after being spotted on the FCC website, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 has also showed up in images leaked on the French website Nowhereelse.fr, which claims to have sourced the images from a Taiwanese certification body. The photographs do not reveal much, except for showing the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 featuring the classic Samsung front with an oval home button, a slim bezel, subtle speaker grills, and the company's logo. The back of the device is similarly prosaic, featuring a squarish camera and what appears to be a polycarbonate body, contrary to rumors of the Galaxy Tab S2 sporting a premium build and finish.

Samsung had released the original Samsung Galaxy Tab S models in June 2014 and could follow the same trend this summer. The Galaxy Tab S2 will reportedly debut in the US, Canada, some EU markets, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Korea, and India.
