According to the latest reports, Samsung is developing four versions of the Galaxy Tab S2, including two core variants - the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 with a screen size of 9.7 inch and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 with a screen size of 8 inch. The current Galaxy Tab S is available in two variants - 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch display size. The Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and S2 8.0 models will have two additional variants, namely Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi plus LTE. Both weigh 260g and 407g, respectively, making them lighter than their predecessors.

The Galaxy Tab S2 will be the thinnest tablet to be ever produced by Samsung and sport a "premium" feel, with its design inspired by the Galaxy S6. Measuring 237.17 x 169.58 x 5.5 mm, the 9.7-inch display variant will come with a slim body and metal frame made of high quality material. The Galaxy Tab S2 will feature a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 offering an aspect ratio of 4:3. The device will be powered by Samsung's flagship 64-bit Exynos chipset, paired with 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab S2 will offer 32GB of built-in storage, along with a microSD slot for additional storage, and pack a 3850mAh battery. The tablet is expected to come with an 8 megapixel main camera and a 2.1 megapixel selfie shooter. The Galaxy Tab S2 will run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS straight out of the box and offer LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, with a theoretical maximum download speed of 300Mbps.

Samsung had released the original Samsung Galaxy Tab S models in June 2014 and could follow the same trend this summer. However, there are conflicting reports that the South Korean tech giant could unveil the Galaxy Tab S2 in Q2 or Q3 of this year. The Galaxy Tab S2 will reportedly debut in US, Canada, some EU markets, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Korea, and India, though Samsung has not provided any official confirmation as yet.
