Last year, Samsung had introduced the high-end Galaxy tablets powered by its own Exynos chipset and its tablets usually run on ARM-based processors. However, the Korean giant seems to have other plans this time and is apparently looking to follow tablet manufacturers such as Asus and Lenovo to create a powerful Android tablet that runs on an Intel processor. Nevertheless, this won't be the first time that Samsung will be using an Intel processor to power its tablet, as the company's Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 was powered by a dual-core Atom chipset.

According to the listing on Geekbench, Samsung's tablet CHOPIN-LTE is powered by one of the latest batch of Intel processors for tablets, the 64-bit Intel Atom X5-Z8500 chipset. Intel's new chipset, which is manufactured on the 14nm architecture Cherry Trail platform, boasts four cores clocked at 2.24GHz by the company, paired with an 8th generation Intel graphics on board. Energy efficiency is likely to be one of the main fortes of Intel's Atom X5 chipset and Samsung's move could mark the start off a new series of premium "laptop replacements", powered by desktop-grade Intel processors, instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon or octa-core Exynos chipsets.

The Geekbench test results reveal that the CHOPIN-LTE achieved 1005 points in the single-core tests and 3425 points in the multi-core test, which puts its performance on par with Samsung's high-end smartphones in the Galaxy series, and at a higher level than its Galaxy Tab series. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has a Geekbench single-core and multi-core test score of about 900 and 2,700 points, respectively.

Geekbench has not provided any other details about Samsung's upcoming tablet, such as screen size and resolution, cameras, storage space, and other features. Stay tuned for the latest news and rumors on Samsung's CHOPIN-LTE tablet.
