San Antonio Spurs trade rumors 2016: LaMarcus Aldridge speculations false?

Some of the speculations in the basketball world, specifically in the National Basketball Association (NBA), say it is unlikely for LaMarcus Aldridge to finish the season with the San Antonio Spurs due to multiple reasons. However, the All-Star forward recently denied all that.

"I talk to [coach Gregg Popovich] daily and he's always telling me that I'm doing great," Aldridge shared on the Jim Rome Show, according to ESPN

Aldridge added, "[I'm] trying to be a more of a leader. He's put me in positions where I can be more of a leader. As long as the guys here aren't saying bad things to me. All my teammates have said nothing but great things to me."

Rumors stating that Aldridge is unhappy with his situation and that is why the Spurs might trade him in the middle of their campaign have spread. Others are saying he is displeased playing second fiddle to Kawhi Leonard. But these are starting to become fallacies following the 31-year-old's comments regarding the matter.

Still, it is expected that trade talks involving Aldridge will continue maybe up to the deadline of the trade period in the regular season.

Another major reason why it is believed Aldridge is leaving was the Spurs' surprising exit in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs last season.

When Aldridge inked with the Spurs, almost everyone considered them as the ones who would be giving the Golden State Warriors a run for their money in the West. However, that did not happen as the Oklahoma City Thunder stunned them.

The Thunder needed only six games to oust the Spurs and advance to the conference finals.

As the 2016-17 season progress, it will be seen if Aldridge is saying the truth. It is going to be an avenue for him and the Spurs to show that their partnership is strong and rumors are just rumors.
