Satan-worshipping black mass in Oklahoma to go ahead despite outcry

A black mass ceremony to mock God and worship the devil, is scheduled to take place at the Oklahoma City Civic Center Music Hall on September 21 by an occultist group called Dakma of Angra Mainyu.

Associated to witchcraft and demonic worship, the black mass ceremony involves desecration of the Eucharist by using a consecrated host from a Catholic Church and using it in a profane sexual ritual.

A similar black mass scheduled to have taken place in May at Harvard University in Boston was canceled at the last minute after opposition from the Catholic Church and the inability to find a venue.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett revealed that his office has been receiving hundreds of emails and calls between last week to oppose the scheduled ceremony, News OK reports.

Catholic Archbishop Paul Coakley criticized the event, calling it "a satanic inversion and distortion of the most sacred beliefs not only of Catholics, but of all Christians."

Coakley also implored that city leaders should think twice before allowing the ceremony to stage in a public place.

He said that the Catholic Church is aggrieved that the tax-funded Civic Center would allow such an event and even sell tickets for it.

But the Civic Center spokesperson thinks otherwise.

Catholic News Agency reported that Jennifer Lindsey-McClintock, the music hall's public information manager, said that she is not in a position to say "whether it is appropriate or not."

She also said that the music hall's administrators do not know whether the event actually uses a consecrated host or not. If the group uses a stolen consecrated host, she said that it's up to the Oklahoma police department to act.

Lucien Greaves, spokesperson for a group called the Satanic Temple, described to Boston magazine on May 13 what the group does to the consecrated host.

"First, we take a piece of magical bread, which is really the flesh of Christ from which we summon his full personage. Then we mock him mercilessly and tell him that he's out of fashion and we hate his taste in music.

"After he feels sufficiently bullied and left out, some representatives from the homosexual agenda rub their gay all over a Bible thereby causing God to weep. This is when Satan appears, and everybody plays spin the bottle."

The Catholic Church venerates the consecrated host and believes that the bread in the Eucharist ceremony at a holy mass becomes the body of Jesus Christ.
