Apple Watch 2 release date in September with new features and OS?

(Apple)

The wait for the Apple Watch 2 may have taken a bit longer than expected, but it may finally draw to a close by the time September rolls around.

Folks have expected the new wearable to show up at different points earlier this year, and rumors even suggested that it could show up at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, though that obviously didn't happen.

This time around, the latest rumblings surrounding the Apple Watch 2 are now pointing to a possible fall debut.

Specifically, the new Apple device could finally be unveiled at some point in September, possibly even alongside the iPhone 7. According to Gotta Be Mobile, Apple could very well decide to put the launch dates of the new wearable and the watchOS 3.0 closer together, which would make a ton of sense.

Apple could drum up more excitement for the rumored Apple Watch by also teasing what a new OS for it could provide, thus giving prospective buyers more reasons to check out the item.

By launching the Apple Watch 2 in September, Apple could also garner more interest for it, since it could be announced alongside a decidedly more eagerly anticipated product in the form of the iPhone 7.

The new Apple wearable has also been a popular topic in the rumor mill after recent rumors hinted at some potentially interesting features that the device could offer.

According to a recent report from 9 to 5 Mac, Apple's second generation wearable could come with a new GPS feature as well as enhanced waterproofing, and those seem to be hinting at a significantly improved device.

Nothing regarding the Apple Watch 2 is still set in stone at this point, but more and more signs are pointing to something big taking place sooner rather than later, with the strong possibility that September could be the month that everything is officially unveiled.
