The second season of "Shadowhunters" and the second novel of "The Mortal Instruments" series may end up sharing more than a few similar story arcs.

The first season of the show already featured its fair share of story elements that were introduced only in "City of Ashes," the second novel in the series, so expecting more of the same will not be a big leap of faith for the fans.

In a recent article, Bustle identified a few storylines that could make sense for the show to take on, such as the ones that featured Luke's werewolf pack and even Seelie Court.

The web site also suggested that the second season of "Shadowhunters" may even end up featuring some elements from the third novel of "The Mortal Instruments" series known as "City of Glass."

Unfortunately, it's still unclear exactly when fans can expect season 2 of the show to make its way to Freeform.

With the first season wrapping up just earlier this month, it's understandable that a premiere date for the second set of episodes has yet to be given, though that hasn't kept fans from speculating.

In a recent interview with TV Line, Dominic Sherwood, who plays Jace Wayland on the show, hinted that season 2 may not be released for a while.

During the latter part of the interview, Sherwood stated that fans may "have to wait a decent while for season 2." Earlier in the interview, he also revealed that at least at that point, he still had no idea about what would be taking place in the second season of the show.

Between Sherwood himself indicating that he doesn't know anything yet about the show's season 2 and his hint that the series itself may still be a long way off from returning, fans may want to bear down and prepare for a long wait as new episodes of "Shadowhunters" may not be available for quite some time.
