The Sony Xperia Z5 might not have a metal body, but it has a number of unique features, including its remarkable camera, which help it effortlessly take on other challengers including the Moto X Style.

Design

These devices might look different, but both have metal frames. The Xperia Z5's frame has nylon on its edge to provide added protection to the frosted glass present on the front and back of the device. There is a fingerprint scanner on the device and it is helpfully integrated into the power button located at its side. It also has an IP68 rating, which means it is dust and waterproof and can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. As for colors, there are four options, black, white, green and gold.

As for the Moto X Style, it can be fully customized on the Moto Maker website, where frames of different colors, various lenses and back panels made from silicone, leather and wood are available. However, it does not have a fingerprint scanner and it is not waterproof.

Display

The Moto X Style is ahead in this category as it is a phablet-sized device with a sharper display. Its capacitive screen measures 5.7 inches and has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 520 pixels per inch while the Xperia Z5 has a smaller 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 428 pixels per inch. However, an advantage of the Sony device is the Triluminos technology, which enhances colors and the X-Reality, whichreduces noise on the screen and sharpens images.

Specs

The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset is present in the Xperia Z5, making it faster than its competitor. It is coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the Moto X Style, it has an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled along with a hexa-core CPU that is comprised of two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz along with an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

There is a memory slot on each device. The Moto X Style's version can support up to 128 GB of external storage while the Xperia Z5 can support 200 GB. As for RAM, both are equal, with 3 GB each.

Camera

The Xperia Z5 boasts of an all new 23 megapixel camera. It comes with Hybrid Autofocus, which takes pictures within 0.03 seconds. In addition, it also has 5x zoom. As for the Moto X Style, it has a 21 megapixel camera but it lacks optical image stabilization.

Price

Without a contract, the Sony Xperia Z5 could cost around $800 while the Moto X Style, which is expected to launch as the Pure Edition in the United States, comes with a price tag of $400, unlocked.
