'Star Wars: Battlefront' March DLC update news: Outer Rim expansion release date, new game modes?

"Star Wars Battlefront" February patch introduced new maps and missions to improve the gaming experience. Now, players are waiting for the game's next update, which is expected to rollout this month.

Even though Electronic Arts (EA) just recently released the Jakku update, which featured the Twilight of Hoth map, the next downloadable content called Outer Rim will be heading to gaming platforms in March.

EA announced the news about Outer Rim on their website, writing, "Expect more in March including free updates and the launch of our first digital expansion pack to give you more of the content you love — more maps, weapons, and heroes, and an all-new mode."

The announcement further mentioned that the Outer Rim expansion will take players to fight in Sullust's factories and even in Jabba the Hutt's palace.

March is already here but EA has not announced the exact release date for the downloadable content (DLC) or shared more details about it. However, an anonymous member of the game's forums, as gathered by WCCFTech, revealed that the new expansion will come out by Mar. 12.

The forum member even revealed that there will be two new game modes, new abilities, and weapons for the expansion. A game mode called "Invasion" is said to be the largest multiplayer game mode for "Battlefront." It will host a battle of 30 vs. 30 players.

According to the tipster, "Invasion" is much like the existing "Walker Assault" mode, only the Empire has more vehicles and the Rebels have newer ones. The objective of "Invasion" is to recapture Sullust's factories that have been taken over by Rebels.

Another game mode reportedly to come in Outer Rim is "Scramble," which consists of a 12v12 match. Players can either fight as Imperials or Rebels in Jabba the Hutt's palace. New Star Cards will be introduced in this game mode as well.

If these claims prove to be true, Gotta Be Mobile noted that Outer Rim's March release might only be applicable to Season Pass holders and not for everyone else. Then again, EA has yet to confirm or deny these claims; people should take the leaked information with a pinch of salt.

The Outer Rim is the first of the four DLC packs to be released for Season Pass holders. More details about the DLC should be available in the weeks to come.
