'Star Wars Battlefront' news: Contents of 'Rogue One: Scarif' expansion revealed; coming to non-season pass owners soon

(Star Wars Battlefront official web site)New heroes, maps and other items included in 'Star Wars Battlefront's' 'Rogue One Scarif' expansion pack

The "Rogue One: Scarif" expansion pack was released on Dec. 6 for "Star Wars Battlefront" players who own the game's season pass, and while non-season pass owners will have to wait a little longer to gain access to it, they can still learn more about its features.

First off, the downloadable content pack adds two new heroes in the form of Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic.

Erso and Krennic aren't coming to the game unarmed, as being released along with them are two new weapons. Erso comes with the highly customizable A180 Blaster Pistol, while Krennic is armed with the powerful DT-29 Heavy Blaster.

Also included in "Rogue One: Scarif" are four new maps, and they are all set on the tropical planet that serves as the main setting for the expansion. The four maps are known as Landing Pad 13, Scarif Beach, Scarif Jungle and Shield Gate, according to a recent post on the game's official website.

"Star Wars Battlefront" players looking to explore these new maps can do so while trying out a new game mode in the process.

The new game mode – known as Infiltration – will call on players to engage in three different phases of combat. Each phase will have a specific objective players need to complete. Settings will also change as players progress through Infiltration, and they can expect to engage in battles that take place on Scarif or even in space.

New Power-ups are also included in the "Rogue One: Scarif" DLC pack. One Power-up will even enable players to call upon a TIE Striker to unload some heavy damage on their opponents.

A specific date for when "Rogue One: Scarif" will be made available to all players has not been announced just yet, though given that season pass owners gain two-week early access to DLC packs, other players may want to mark down Dec. 20 on their calendars as the possible day for when the new expansion is also released for them.
