The open-world game "Minecraft" is now on tour in U.S. movie theaters. However, the IP is not on tour because of a "Minecraft" movie; it is on tour to invite kids to participate in a tournament called "Super League Gaming."

As reported by Venturebeat, "Super League Gaming" will be at more than 80 movie theaters and 28 U.S. cities for a summer tour. The competition invites kids ages 7 to 14 to participate. Though the mechanics of the game has not yet been reported, it is expected that the competition might be about who builds the coolest looking house, mansion or castle, given that "Minecraft" is a build-anything-you-want kind of game.

Super League Gaming is currently touring Silicon Valley, as reported by Venturebeat. They are being partnered by Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theaters and Cinemark Theaters. Aside from those theaters, the same website reports that they are also teaming up with iPic, a luxurious cinema chain which converts their theaters into an arena for kids.

Players who joined the competition will play in movie theaters with their laptops and they can watch the whole game through the big screen.

"Super League Gaming is the world's first in-theater video game league," Super League Gaming President, Brett Morris said via ABC7news. Morris also added, "As soon as the kids walk in the door and they see a bunch of other like-minded gamers, they become a new person."

According to VG247, the league will end on August 28 right before another six-week competition kicks-off on September 14, 2015.

"Minecraft" is a popular sandbox IP that does not have a story. Players have the free will to do anything they want, whenever and however they choose it. The game was developed by Mojang and was acquired by Microsoft last year on September 2014.
