'Super Mario Maker' news: just a few days before 30th anniversary, game reaches 1 million uploaded player-made maps

The Italian plumber, Mario, who can also be referred to as Super Mario, is now 30 years old. Mario's birthday was on September 13 and as a gift, Google gave the famous plumber a special surprise on its home page, as mentioned on Food World News.

And it seems like the gift giving doesn't end there just yet, as recently, the relatively new game, "Super Mario Maker," reached another milestone and this time, it is 1 million uploads of player-made maps.

According to the post of Nintendo Japan on their official Twitter, as IGN translates, the user-created maps for "Super Mario Maker" just recently reached 1 million uploads, which have been shared by many players worldwide.

IGN explains that, "Super Mario Maker" almost has the same concept of Sony PlayStation's "Little Big Planet" where players can make the map they want by simply using the resources from the previous game installments. It can range from maps that are fairly easy or nightmare-inducing difficulty. So basically, the choice is in the creator's hands.

Just to make things clear, "Super Mario Maker" is not, in any way, related to "Super Mario Bros 4." A few years back, Legends of Localization made an article which suggested that "Super Mario World" was in fact "Super Mario Bros. 4" in Japan.

In addition, as Digital Trends reports, the latest "Super Mario" game is now going to be available in the extremely entertaining fighting game, "Super Smash Bros.," as a downloadable content (DLC). This content is set to be launched for both the Wii U version and 3DS version of "Super Smash Bros." later this month, Sept. 30. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on the pricing of the DLC.

"Super Mario Maker" was released last week, Sept. 11, for the Wii U platform. The game is now available on the Nintendo store for $59.99.
