Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U characters: Newcomers and all-time favorites, 2014 release date

Super Smash Bros 4 is coming to 3DS on October 3 and to Wii U within the "holiday" season.

Several characters have been confirmed and posted on the game's official website, including old favorites and new charmers.

New kids on the block include Pac-Man, Palutena, Mii Fighters, Greninja, Little Mac, Rosalina & Luma, Villager, Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer.

Pac-Man is a classic character that was first presented in arcade games in 1980 and became a social phenomenon worldwide. He has a voracious appetite for pellets and is oftentimes seen as the hero that bust ghosts on his way home.

Goddess Palutena hails from Nintendo's Kid Icarus series and first appeared as a non-playable character in 1986.

She takes on a lot of roles that including the benevolent goddess of light, leader of Angel Land Kingdom and guardian of the Three Sacred Treasures.

Palutena's arch nemesis is the hideous monster Medusa who tried to undo all her beautiful works on earth.

The younger generation is represented by Mii Fighters that were conceived in 1997 and consist of three variations: Mii Brawler that advocates physical combat, Mii Swordfighter that is a skilled sword combatant and Mii Gunner that has a knack for projectiles.

Greninja on the other hand is an elusive Ninja Pokemon that has the power to compress water and turn it into "Water Shuriken" that it uses when it attacks enemies.

Little Mac is from Nintendo's Punch-Out! with a signature move called "Super Uppercut".

Rosalina is subbed as a celestial stunner that vowed to help Mario rescue Princess Peach, in turn Mario will recover the lost Power Stars.

Rosalina adopted the Young Master Luma whom she found in a rusted spaceship waiting for her mother.

According to the director of Super Smash Bros, Villager's power is inspired by the Animal Crossings series and could carry an arsenal of weapons such as slingshot, shovel and net.

Mega Man used to be Dr. Light's assistant and was later on repurposed to fight robots that are savaging the planet.

While Nintendo has teased the fans with these neophytes, they are also reintroducing the all-time beloved characters that include Mario, Luigi, Link and Zelda fro Legends of Zelda, Pikachu and Lucario from Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Yoshi, Sheik, Ike and tons more.
