Fans of the Nintendo all-star fighting game, "Super Smash Bros 4," were frustrated when they heard that Shovel Knight will not be included in the playable rosters in the highly rumored upcoming DLC for the game.

Yacht Club Games, the creator of Shovel Knight, had gone to the public to clarify the confusion of the character's Amiibo being included in the "Super Smash Bros" list of compatible and playable characters. According to the developer, there seems to be a misunderstanding on the listing and denies that it was all an error.

"Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error," the company said on their tweet.

Fans were actually looking forward on seeing Shovel Knight be included in the roster of playable characters in "Super Smash Bros 4." Others fans even made some speculations about the character being included in the rumored and potential DLC.

Earlier this month, NeoGAF forum user Regulus Tera had posted the recent patch data from the game. After the sighting, another user named Neoxon had explained that the Marios on the data are actually placeholders for three more characters.

With that said, some fans speculate that Shovel Knight could be one of these three characters, according to Christian Today.

There are also other names that were mentioned on the fan theories. As stated on Gamenesia [via Yibada], aside from Shovel Knight—which was already denied—Inkling from the game "Splatoon" is also a potential candidate.

However, since nothing much has been actually confirmed yet, it's best for fans to keep an open-mind for now until Nintendo or the developers of the game characters that were mentioned have confirmed the inclusion for "Super Smash Bros 4."

As for the "Super Smash Bros 4" DLC, better take it with a pinch of salt for now as this is just pure speculation as of the moment.
