Surface Book 2 release date news: Several reasons why Microsoft may release the 2-in-1 device in 2017

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 might not get released this year, as expected. Rumor has it that Microsoft wanted to make sure that the device gets released with minimal to no issues, which is why they want to spend more time improving the device.

Rumors suggest that the Redmond tech giant is focused on upgrading the Surface Book 2. The device could have been launched within this year, but it is believed that Microsoft is waiting for the new Intel chipset that should be part of the Surface Book 2.

The Surface Book 2 is said to run on an Intel Kaby Lake chipset, although this processor has not really been officially announced yet by the company. Kaby Lake is set to be released in 2017, which could also mean that fans will be able to get their hands on a Surface Book 2 on that same year.

Another reason why Surface Book 2 could be a 2017 release is due to the Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system update. This update is believed to be rolled out in early 2017 and Surface Book 2 is rumored to come with it straight from the box. Redstone 2 is also said to improve the features of the Surface Pen.

Apart from the rumored new machine inside the Surface Book 2, the device is expected to be more expensive than the previous model at the time of its release due to more upgrades. The 2-in-1 device is believed to have a storage capacity of 1 TB and a much larger screen display measuring 13.5 inches.

While there are rumors about the device being a 2017 release, The Bitbag speculates otherwise. According to the publication, the discounts on the Surface Pro 4 could signal that a launch of a new device from Microsoft is imminent, whether it's a Surface Book 2 or a Surface Pro 5.

Amidst all the rumors, Microsoft hasn't said anything official yet to confirm all of them. With that said, all reports should be taken with a pinch of salt.
