Even though Microsoft has yet to confirm the existence of its alleged Surface Phone, some still believe that there is, indeed, one, and the company is likely to launch the device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. However, if the latest reports are to be believed, those expecting the device's launch at the aforementioned event may be up to a disappointment as Microsoft is said not to release the Surface Phone earlier than 2018.

There is no denying that the Surface Phone is one of the most highly anticipated devices for 2017. In fact, despite Microsoft being mum on its existence, numerous rumors have already been attached to the alleged device.

While several sources have claimed that Microsoft will be launching the Surface Phone at the upcoming MWC happening in Barcelona, Spain later this month, the latest reports say that it is unlikely to be the case as Microsoft will launch the device in 2018 instead.

However, other sources claim that it may not take another year before the Surface Phone arrives as, allegedly, the Surface Phone may debut at the latter part of 2017 and will come with impressive specs and features. What is further interesting is that it is said that the Surface Phone will have the ability to operate like a mobile PC.

Reportedly, Microsoft has made a Windows 10 version that can run on a phone hardware, a concept that the company refers to as "cellular PCs." Should this turn out to be the case for the Surface Phone, there is no denying that it will be a great help for individuals who are always on the go but need to access their desktop applications.

It was also reported last month that the Surface Phone may be a smartphone-tablet hybrid. It is suspected to come with an expandable screen display after the alleged photos of the patent Microsoft applied for and has been awarded with leaked online, showing that the unnamed Microsoft device is convertible to a tablet if its screen is expanded.

While the Surface Phone is alleged to come with numerous awesome specs and features, those anticipating the device are advised to take everything with a grain of salt for now as Microsoft has not even confirmed the existence of the Surface Phone.

Once the device is launched, hopefully within the year, indeed, only by then can it be confirmed whether the mentioned rumors about it are true or otherwise.
