T-Mobile drops price by $48 on iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C by $50

Apple's iPhone models are now cheaper at T-Mobile, with price cuts for both the iPhone 5S and its more affordable sibling iPhone 5C.

The telecommunications giant is now offering discounted price tag for every version of iPhone 5S: 16GB model is now $600, the 32GB model is $700 and the 64GB is going for $800. The price drop is around $48.

A similar markdown was seen with iPhone 5C. Customers looking for 16GB model can now buy it for $500 or $600 for the 32GB unit.

Gotta Be Mobile also reported that Verizon is cutting prices of various flagship smartphones including iPhone 5S.

In June, Walmart drastically slashed prices of the same iPhone variants.

Normally, when Apple gears up for a new iPhone launch, retailers implements price cuts and offer discounts for previous models.

This was seen when the iPhone 5 value plunged in September of 2013, weeks before the debut of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

The release of iPhone 6 is allegedly imminent, even if Apple has not dropped a single official detail about a new smartphone.

Rumors have it that the company will unwrap a new iPhone with bigger screens – a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model.

According to Reuters, Japan Display Inc., Sharp Corp and South Korea's LG Display Co. Ltd. manufactures the screen for iPhone 6.

While fans are already eager to dole out for the new Apple iPhone, supply chains are scrambling to get enough screens ready. The hiccup was brought about by the last minute redesign order from the Cupertino-based company.

Apple is reportedly holding an event on September 9, and the tech community is not only expecting iPhone 6 launch, but also the unveiling of the much-awaited iWatch.

Typically, Apple iPhone events primarily focus on iPhone, but this year, the wearables could be launched alongside the flagship phone.

The big question now is, will consumers be picking up discounted iPhones or will they be waiting for a few more weeks for the newest offering of Apple?
