'Team Fortress 2' news: much awaited 'Invasion Update' released by Valve

(Team Fortress 2 / Steam)

For the past couple of months, many players of "Team Fortress 2" have been speculating about the rumored "Invasion Update," but game developer Valve chose to keep things under wraps. Now, the studio has come out of the dark and put an end to all the speculations by not only announcing but also making the "Invasion Update" official.

According to Valve's official announcement on the "Team Fortress 2" blog, the "Invasion Update" is actually a type of event that was created by the community and it will be available until Nov. 5. During the span of this event, players will be able to receive new and exclusive items such as weapons, cosmetics and many new exciting goodies.

"For one month only, you can participate in the Invasion Community Update event and receive exclusive cases filled with rare items, weapons, and Unusual effects just for this update," Valve wrote on its post.

Furthermore, the "Invasion Update" opens up a new kind of pass. Called Invasion Pass, the feature gives players the ability to track their kills as well as be eligible for a random drop of the event-exclusive chest called Space Cases, according to PC Gamer

This event also opens up many new maps in-game that are specifically made for the "Invasion Update." As listed by Valve, players can choose to play on four new added maps, namely 2Fort Invasion, Watergate, Probed and Byre. All these maps were customized to add the feeling of an alien invasion. For instance, Watergate features a massive UFO hovering on top of the map.

So for players out there who are eagerly waiting for the "Invasion Update" of "Team Fortress 2," it's best to download the content now and collect the cosmetics before the event ends on Nov. 5.
