Tesla's recently updated Model S 90D has surpassed a 300-mile driving range. According to 2017 Fuel Economy Data released by the EPA, the Tesla Model S 90D — with a large 90 kWh battery pack and an all-wheel drive system — can run for 303.2 miles on a single charge. Currently, the Model S 90D is the only electric vehicle in the market with such impressive numbers.

Readers should note, however, that such performance is still largely dependent on speed, road conditions, and weather. According to Tesla, the aforementioned numbers will be attainable when the electric car is driven at speeds of 65 mph, with an outside temperature of 70 degrees, the A/C off, and with 19-inch wheels. Regardless, knowing that the electric car has that kind of potential is very appealing to customers and car enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, for combined driving, the Tesla Model S 90D also impresses with a 294-mile driving range. Compared to its predecessor, the 90D comes with a 6 percent increase in performance.

These impressive numbers from the EPA are said to be due to the electric car's upgraded features. The refreshed model was introduced just less than a month ago. Performance is also due to the all-electric powertrain that consists of two motors. Each motor delivers 259 horsepower, and together, they produce 417 horsepower. The electric car also has 485 lb-ft. of torque and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

The Tesla Model S 90D was also given new front design. The smaller grille now looks similar to the Model X. Headlamps were updated to LED lights, while taillights were redesigned.

Hopefully, the impressive technologies and engineering used on the Model S 90D will also be utilized for the upcoming Tesla Model 3. Rumors are also swirling that Tesla will be releasing a Model S P100D that is equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack. If rumors are proven true, then car enthusiasts can expect the model to come with a 350 to 400-mile driving range.
