'The Division' release date: Art Director shares pre-production CG images and photos

Brian Tipple, the Art Director, for the currently in-development 'Tom Clancy's The Division' video game posted a brief update on the project. Speaking about the team's goal of displaying iconic imagery in 'The Division', Tipple posted on his Behance page, "We explored multiple directions that best communicated the core promise of the game for the primary and secondary target market. These directions are supported by the city of New York and the pandemic responsible for [their] existence."

Accompanying the blurb was a series of conceptual artwork for the game, including a few pre-production CG images and photo references used during the project. The first piece of artwork that also serves as the game's cover art showcases three tactical agents making their way towards a quarantined area deep in the city. The decrepit setting features plenty of broken down skyscrapers and heavy smoke in a less than colorful monochromatic style.

As for the supposed The Division agents, the trio are equipped with basic survival gear and armed with a modest array of weapons. Another image shows a group of different agents on board an unidentified spacecraft overlooking the ruined island cityscape. All in all, the series of images provides a good amount of insight into what the atmosphere will be like in 'The Division'.

As previously announced, the general plotline of the game involves a unit of tactical agents belonging to a group called 'The Division' that are called in to bring order to a pandemic stricken United States. While the agents appear as mere ordinary citizens, they have been well trained to operate autonomously in times of disaster.

An exact release of 'The Division' has yet to be unveiled, but more information should be forthcoming as the upcoming E3 video game conference nears. Publisher Ubisoft is expected to, at the very least, provide more information of the game including a target release date.
