After Bethesda game director Todd Howard confirmed that "The Elder Scrolls VI" is in the cards, fans got so excited about the news that some easily assumed that the game is already in development.

As previously reported, at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Howard said that there will be three new projects from Bethesda and one of them is "TES VI." However, Public Relations and Marketing Vice President Pete Hines clarified that a new "The Elder Scrolls" game is not happening soon.

Still, fans took the news as a hint that somehow, Bethesda could be working with the pre-production stage of the game, but not the full-production yet. But Hines' most recent tweet says otherwise.

When a fan asked if the new projects will take away the focus on "TES VI," Hines only replied, "We aren't working on TES6 at the moment." What this means for fans is that "TES VI" is not even in the pre-production stage of the game. As noted by Digital Spy, this particular stage is where the story and mechanical updates will be realized. In this case, it is such disappointing news for all those who have been waiting for another installment to the franchise.

On the other hand, this doesn't come as much of a surprise since Bethesda has been transparent when it comes to giving updates on "TES VI." Hines had previously mentioned that the people won't be getting the game for "many years."

In addition, Hines once again made it clear that fans will have to wait a long time before a new installment arrives. Over the weekend, he was asked if he could provide an estimate on when the new game will be released. Unfortunately for everyone, Hines replied, "Nope. Years and years."

In the meantime, players will simply have to enjoy the new "Skyrim" remastered version, which will be released soon.
