The Game of Thrones fandom is disappointed with the latest news from George R.R. Martin about his sixth book of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. The author reportedly said that the book is most likely not going to be released in 2015. The epic novel is arguably one of the most awaited releases in the fantasy genre.

The Winds of Winter release date has been creating news since last year when a tweet from the author created confusion. The December 12 tweet read, "#12daysofwesteros" and was mistaken by fans to be a countdown for the new book. Martin clarified that is was about Christmas. He also stated that he will not resort to any "clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meaning" to announce the completion of the book.

Jane Johnson, Martin's UK publisher, confirmed that the book is not in the 2015 publishing schedule yet. The book lovers are used to waiting for the next book in Martin's series, but Game of Thrones fans are particularly eager for this one.

The official trailer of The Game of Thrones Season 5 will be released on January 29. HBO has already announced that the Season will premiere on April 12, 2015. Fans are wondering what will happen after this Season is over because HBO cannot continue with the TV series if Martin does not turn up with the sixth book.

Martin has already said that he's trying to stay ahead of the TV series. However, Game of Thrones Season 6 might not even be based on the final book of the Song of Ice and Fire series.

In reply to rumors claiming that Martin has already finished the book and is withholding it deliberately, Martin said:

"…Look, I've said it before and I will say again, I don't play games with news about the books. I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are."

The author expressed his displeasure at the repeated prying and said:

"When it is done, I will say that it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish. I don't know how I can make it any clearer."

It seems like the Game of Thrones Season 5 is the only thing that will be able to keep the fans composed.
