'The Winds of Winter' release date rumors: Book 6 to launch in 2016 with 'A Dream of Spring?'

(Facebook/GameOfThrones)'The Winds of Winter' is rumored to release next year.

Popular HBO series "Game of Thrones" is going for its seventh season, but fans continue to wait for the release of the sixth book from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, which the series is based from. So far, there is still no exact release date of "The Winds of Winter."

Fans continue to wait patiently for renowned author George R.R. Martin to finish the book, but the latest update from Martin revealed that he is still working on it. Martin also expressed in his LiveJournal entry that he still has no announcement to make regarding the progress of "The Winds of Winter."

It was previously speculated that Martin would finally release the book at science fiction and fantasy convention, MidAmeriCon II. The author recently made an appearance at the event but has remained silent about the fate of the sixth book. However, there are speculations that the book should be completed by 2017, IBTimes reported.

There are also reports suggesting that the seventh book, "A Dream of Spring," will release alongside "The Winds of Winter." There were even speculations that the repeated delay of the sixth book may have been due to Martin's decision to write the last two books simultaneously. Parent Herald also noted that the reason for the delay could also be due to "The Winds of Winter" being the longest book to write. The reason behind the delay can be frustrating for fans who have waited for a long time, but Martin himself has been honest about his weakness in meeting deadlines.

The release date for "The Winds of Winter" remains, as is the plot. However, there have been a lot of talk about what could possibly happen in the book. One of the theories popular among hardcore fans is the confirmation of Jon Snow's parentage. BryndenBFish strongly believes that Jon Snow's parents, rumored to be Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, will be revealed in the book.
