Tim Tebow is setting aside his goal of returning to the National Football League (NFL) and now aims to play baseball professionally, according to his agents.

In a report by ESPN, it was stated that Tebow's agents, Jimmy Sexton and Nick Khan, revealed their client's intention of working out for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams this August.

"Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures," Sexton said, according to ESPN. "Tim's athletic ability, his work ethic, his leadership and his competitiveness were evident in football and will show in baseball. Knowing Tim's passion and desire, we won't be surprised by anything he accomplishes."

ESPN also reported that Tebow is working on his hitting and fielding skills "for almost the past year" in Arizona and Los Angeles. The 28-year-old was an excellent baseball player in high school, before he focused on american football.

Tebow's decision to return to baseball and try his luck in the MLB gathered mixed reactions. To some it may be a little surprising because it was known that his main objective is coming back to the NFL.

Last year, Tebow was granted another chance to be in the NFL. He signed a one-year pact with the Philadelphia Eagles and performed well in camp. During the pre-season, despite his previous absence from the league, fans still cheered for him.

Tebow had a good outing in the pre-season, nothing spectacular, but it was not enough for then Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. He was cut following the team's fourth pre-season contest.

The elimination from the roster was taken positively by Tebow, and since then, there were reports that he continues to work hard for an NFL comeback. However, it seems like what he was preparing for was another run at baseball.
