Tim Tebow news 2016: former NFL quarterback receives offer from baseball club

There is good and bad news for famous football personality Tim Tebow. The good news is that a baseball club, the Bridgeport Bluefish, offered him a contract. The bad news, it is likely just for them to sell more tickets.

A few days ago, Tebow tried his luck in baseball and worked out in front of numerous Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts. As of the moment, no club from the league has reached out to him. However, the Bluefish, who are participating in the independent Atlantic League, have expressed interest in the former National Football League (NFL) quarterback. FOX News reported that they are willing to sign him to a deal for the 2016 season.

Unfortunately, Bridgeport's offer is unlikely because of what Tebow can do on the field. Instead, it might be a marketing strategy similar with what the club did last Friday.

According to a Yahoo Sports' report, the Bluefish announced last week that three members of the defunct wrestling stable New World Order (NWO), Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman (aka X-Pac), are going to be their managers moving forward.

So trying to land Tebow is definitely part of the Bluefish's attempts to get more people to watch their games, something the 29-year-old and his baseball coach, Chad Moeller, are not in favor of.

"Do I think [teams are] selfishly going to want to sell some seats? Yeah. And he knows it," Moeller stated according to FOX News.

Moeller added, "And that's why he really hopes [and] wants a team that thinks he can do this, and not just, 'We're going to send him to every level and sell a whole bunch of seats and sell a whole bunch of merchandise and we're just going to have a sideshow.'"

As of the moment, Tebow awaits news if his tryout is going to pay off.
