Tim Tebow news: Football star drawing strong interest following GOP rep's retirement

The political pitch involving Tim Tebow seems to be growing out of proportion by the day, especially after the sudden retirement of GOP representative Ander Crenshaw.

Crenshaw represented the Jacksonville area, the same place where Tebow resides. Tebow live in the 4th Congressional District and is also the area where his sports consulting firm (XV Enterprises) and the Tim Tebow Foundation is situated.

One strategist made it clear, via the Washington Examiner, that they do not play favorites when it comes to filling up the slack. But with Tebow, a huge football star, it seems that the former Heisman trophy winner could be an interesting addition to their cause.

But would Tebow truly fit the bill? There are some who are wary of the fact that the former NFL player could end up focusing more on social issues, but the republicans see him doing more than touching on that.

That includes fighting for the less fortunate and coming up with creative solutions to address poverty. The last word on the group's plans is that they are reaching out to Tebow in an effort to try and convince him to come on board.

If they are successful, Tebow would be the second popular name that the republicans would try to dangle, following Willie Robertson back in 2013. The Duck Dynasty star ended up deciding not to pursue it.

Tebow did express some interest on possibly holding public office last month, calling it an intriguing venture, though he didn't seem that committed to the idea. Right now, it seems premature to think that Tebow would be interested in venturing into politics, though one will never know.

The former NFL player seems to be content with his causes, though it would not be surprising if he agrees to it with the intention of radiating his coverage in 'making a difference' for a wider niche.
