'Yoshi's Wooly World' news: Special Edition set gives gamers green Yoshi amiibo

Nintendo coming up with amiibo's was a brilliant marketing move on the game maker's part, especially now that "Yoshi's Wooly World" has created a huge demand for the adorable Yarn Yoshi amiibo.

An amiibo is a wireless communication and storage platform that can be used on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U gaming platforms. Amiibos are quite hard to get these days, and some of the rare ones require luck, persistence and not a small amount of cash.

When Nintendo announced the release date of its new game "Yoshi's Wooly World," it also revealed that a special amiibo line is being developed for it. Instead of coming out with a plastic amiibo, "Yoshi's Wooly World" will have three special Yoshis made out of blue, green and red yarn. All very adorable.

Aside from being the epitome of cuteness, the purpose of the yarn Yoshi is to give players a helping hand. Putting the yarn Yoshi amiibo on the NFC receiver will bag the player a duplicate Yoshi which can be used to advance in the game, not to mention giving it the extra appeal that would make players come back for more.

There is no question that gamers will be scrambling to get their very own yarn Yoshi amiibo. One of the easiest ways to secure a Yoshi amiibo is to get the "Special Edition Yoshi's Wooly World" which comes with the green Yoshi. However, the blue and red Yoshi's would probably be a bit more difficult to score but preordering one will definitely increase your chances.

There is always a chance that Nintendo will make a lot of these Yoshi amiibos to meet the demand. But limited editions drive the market up so gamers are not holding their breath for that. Plus, shipments do get delayed or ruined, as what happened to the preorders in Europe.

"Yoshi's Wooly World" was released in Europe on June 26, 2015. Japanese players can get their copy of the game on July 26 while those from North America will have to wait until October 16, 2015 before they can get their hands on the cutest of all amiibos.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on this while waiting for "Yoshi's Wooly World."
