ZTE has released the Axon Max – the latest high-end device in the company's flagship Axon lineup. With recent releases like the Axon Pro and Axon Elite, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has continually impressed consumers with its high-end but affordable devices.

While the Axon Max may be the final model in the lineup, ZTE has announced its continued commitment to providing consumers with innovative devices.

"Our flagship series is the core of ZTE's strategy. The Axon Max may be the final building block of this bold line of devices, but it is really just the next step in what we believe will be a far reaching dynasty of premium products with vision for what tomorrow's users need," said Adam Zeng, CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices, in a press release.

The ZTE Axon Max is considered a phablet given its 6-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display. It has a 2.5 D curved screen and a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution.

As with other Axon devices, the Axon Max is cased in a Boeing 787 aircraft-grade aluminum-titanium alloy. The device looks very premium and sleek with its ultra-slim bezels. In terms of dimensions, it is 160 mm tall, 80 mm wide and 7.5 mm thick.

The Axon Max is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and 3 GB of RAM. There is 32 GB of internal storage but can be expanded to 128 GB via a microSD card slot.

The smartphone is equipped with a 16 MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and a f/1.9 aperture. According to ZTE, it would only take 0.1 seconds for the camera to focus. Below the rear camera, the ZTE Axon Max also comes with a fingerprint scanner. There is also a 13 MP front-facing camera with a f/2.2 aperture.

The ZTE Axon Max comes with dual-SIM capability and 4G LTE connectivity. There is also Hi-Fi audio for playback and recording. The device runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the MiFavor 3.5 UI on top.

The flagship phablet comes with a large 4,140 mAh battery that will provide users with power for an entire day. With Quick Charge 2.0 capability, the Axon Max can reportedly be charged up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. The device also comes with the USB Type-C port.

Right now, it is only offered in a single color, gold. It is priced at 2,799 RMB, which is about $431. The ZTE Axon Max will be available for purchase in China later this month. International availability has not yet been announced.
