'Five Nights at Freddy's 3' update: Developer posts cryptic image
Indie developer Scott Cawthon posted a cryptic image on his website, Scott Games, in a showcase of gameplay elements that can be expected in the upcoming horror game 'Five Nights at Freddy's 3.' Spoilers for the upcoming game have been limited to the little teasers such as this one that are released by the developer from time to time.
The minimalist image features what appears to be a map in the game, with a small square representing the player. There appears to be a series of doors or vents that connect various rectangular rooms together, perhaps a signal of gameplay mechanics involving escape or survival.
Cawthon has posted various other images equally as mysterious as the latest one he unveiled. In a previous image, there is an animatronic image of a green creature with the words "I am still here" beside it. Other images include a box of gruesome toy animatronic parts with a skulking figure in the shadows.
A teaser trailer was released by Cawthon in late January this year. It does not feature any gameplay footage, but instead explores the titular location complete with creepy music. The following phrases – 'He will come back; He always does; We have a place for him' – are interspersed with graphics featuring various animatronics, including the green creature that Cawthon previewed in an image on his website.
The basic plot of the game will revolve around the continuing events at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza where a group of new owners are looking to once again restore the legend surrounding the place. The point and click horror game will presumably retain many of the same gameplay elements and horror themes found in the previous two installments of the series.
No release date has been confirmed yet for the game, but it should once again be available on the Steam platform upon completion.
