Hillsong United claims top spot in new UK Christian music chart

Australian Christian rocker group Hillsong United nabbed the number one spot on the UK's newly launched Official Christian & Gospel Albums Chart with their studio album Zion.

The results were announced in the first Top 20 in the new Christian music chart earlier this week by the Official Charts Company.

The weekly chart, which posts every Monday, is the first time that Christian and Gospel artists in the UK have been ranked based on their music sales.

Zion is the third studio album by the CCM and alternative rock band Hillsong United. The 13-track album released in February and already topped the Australia's ARIA Albums Chart, and debuted in the Top 5 of the US' Billboard Chart.

"It's humbling and exciting to know that this album is inspiring people not just in Australia, but across the globe to live with purpose and to put their trust in God," Hillsong United told OfficialCharts.com. "In a world where negativity is so dominant, we hope Zion can be a sound of joy and hope."

Coming in second is Without Words by Bethel Music, the music ministry of a California-based church. Sliding into third place was CCM artist Matt Redman for his 10,000 Reasons album, which recently won a Grammy Award for its "Bless the Lord."

The chart will be broadcast weekly on Christian digital stationsPremier Radio and UCB and be posted on www.officialcharts.com.
