'Battlefield 5' release date May 6: what to expect upon launch

EA Dice is set to drop a major reveal to one of its most anticipated game titles for this year, "Battlefield 5."

In the game's official website, a countdown page has been launched for a "Battlefield 5" event, which will be held on May 6, Friday, 4PM ET or 9PM BST. Developers will attend a panel at the event prior to a global live stream on the aforementioned date and time.

Details of what's going to be covered at the event are scarce, but EA has shared to VideoGamer that the event will present an "insight into the minds of the developers as you hear from the Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and Lead Producer Aleksander Grondal on the past, present and the future of Battlefield."

In addition, attendees of the event can join the discussion and throw questions at the developers. EA DICE has also announced a Battlefield Insider signup, which allows participants to receive "in-game rewards, exclusive content and sneak peeks at news" regarding "Battlefield." Nothing specific about the rewards or exclusive content has been revealed yet, but those who are certain about purchasing "Battlefield 5" might consider signing up to become an Insider.

 The invite also stated that there will be "additional content that will not be released online."

"Battlefield 5" has long been a subject of rumors and speculations in the gaming community. Recently, there were leaks about the titles and details of the game's planned DLCs. It was reported countless times that the game will be set in World War I.

Earlier, Ecumenical News reported about rumors stating that "Battlefield 5" will run on a Frostbite engine.

The existence of these unconfirmed rumors only shows that many people are looking forward to the release of "Battlefield 5." Apparently, all the rumors surrounding the game will soon be confirmed or disproved when EA DICE makes the big reveal this week.
