Electronic Arts' Dragon Age Inquisition will not get a release date in India due to the game's sexual content which could violate local obscenity laws, according to reports.

"In order to avoid a breach of local content laws, Electronic Arts has withdrawn Dragon Age: Inquisition from sale in India. Unfortunately, that means we're unable to fulfill your Origin order," a note found in the EA Help section noted.

However, the studio explained that it is not the homosexual content that prompted them to pull the game from the South Asian country.

"The decision here is in relation to local obscenity laws, but not specific to same gender romance," clarified an EA representative in an interview with Kotaku.

India's laws on pornography and obscenity are quite vague, but the studio would like to veer away from any complications in the country.

Those who have purchased the game will receive a refund, and while it may be seen in users' Origin libraries, it will be removed as soon as possible.

Dragon Age Inquisition was commercially released on Nov. 18, and has since received a good amount of positive reviews from gaming pundits and users.

IGN praised the game for being ambitious and expansive.

"It's a surprisingly huge, dense world, and I soon realized there were still entire sandboxes I hadn't even set foot in. Even in my hundredth hour, I'm still discovering," Vince Ingenito of IGN said after giving Dragon Age Inquisition a rating of 8.8 (Great) out of a possible perfect score of 10.
