Filming on the fourth season of 'Longmire' continues to chug along. Cast member Cassidy Freeman provided an update via a post at her Twitter account stating that the production team is on its way to filming the third episode of the season. Production on the upcoming season began earlier last month in New Mexico, and with two episodes already presumed completed, it appears that the show is right on track for a mid-year release.

The previous seasons of the show premiered at roughly the same time points, with the first season beginning on June 2012 followed by a May 2013 and June 2014 premiere for the following seasons. However, a release date for the fourth season has yet to be confirmed by its new channel provider Netflix. 'Longmire' was not renewed by A&E for its fourth season but was saved after the steaming service Netflix picked up the show. It remains to be seen if the show will utilize a same day release that other Netflix shows such as 'House of Cards' have employed.

Whatever the case, production seems to be once again running smoothly following a tragic accident to one of the show's crew members, a driver named Gary Joe Tuck, who fell asleep while driving a car at the New Mexico highway after an exhausting 18-hour work shift.

In response to the accident, Netflix along with Longmire's production company Warner Horizon Television have implemented additional measures to ensure the crew's safety. Crew members now have access to a charter bus that will take them to and from the various shooting locations in the area. The new measures were widely praised by the crew members. As reported in this article at Deadline Hollywood, an anonymous crew member explained, "I've worked for the show for a long time. The way I see it is that the producers saw a problem and stepped up and said this is what we're going to do immediately to fix it."
