All eyes are now on Microsoft's follow-up devices after the immense success witnessed by Surface Pro 3. The Redmond giant's "Surface" brand of tablets has been engulfed in rumors regarding the possible Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro Mini.

These two devices were rumored to be released in December 2014, but that never happened. New speculations are now making the rounds about the devices, which apparently feature unimpressive specs.

Design&Trend has reported that the Surface Pro 4, which insiders claim is termed as a "taplet," will have two versions with different screen sizes. The standard Surface Pro 4 will have a 12-inch screen with 2160x1440 resolution, just like the Surface Pro 3, while the size of Surface Mini is still being debated and it is not yet certain if the device will sport an 8-inch or a 10.1-inch display.

The new devices will carry Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 10.  A dedicated event for the new OS will be on January 21, and fans hope that the company will shed some light on the devices during the event.

Unfortunately, the two "taplets" will be powered by Intel Core M processors, which are good, but not as good as the Intel Core I series, namely i5 and i7, inside the Surface Pro 3. Naturally, the upcoming devices will be cheaper than the Surface Pro 3, claims the report citing cnBeta, an online Chinese IT website.

Even if the rumors about Surface Pro 4 turn out to be true, there is unlikely to be any change in the accessories, as Surface's General Manager Brian Hall has assured that all Surface Pro 3 accessories will be compatible with future Pro devices.

Strong sales the Surface Pro 3 suggests that Microsoft could release a successor to avoid users from getting bored with the former, and the new device could be launched sometime in 2015.

Amidst all these rumors, Microsoft has uploaded a video advertisement titled "Accolades," further highlighting the two-in-one capabilities of the Surface Pro 3 and proving that the devive is really "the tablet that can replace your laptop."
