Radiohead new album 2015 release date: band experimenting with old and new technology for as yet untitled ninth album

Following their largely successful 'King of Limbs' tour, alternative rock band Radiohead went on a brief hiatus as various members of the band went on to work on solo projects. Lead singer Thom Yorke recorded the album 'Amok' with his other band Atoms for Peace and followed that up with his second solo album in 'Tomorrow's Modern Boxes'. Drummer Philip Selway also released a solo album entitled 'Weatherhouse' while lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood worked on the soundtrack for the film 'Inherence Vice'.

Despite their still busy schedule, Radiohead have begun working on their as of yet untitled ninth studio album. Speaking about their progress on the album, Greenwood shared that the group have put in a couple months of work and are making great progress. As per this article at Pitchfork, the drummer extraordinaire explained that work on the album is at an experimental stage at the moment. "We've certainly changed our method again. It's too involved. We're kind of limiting ourselves; working in limits. So we'll see what happens. It's like we're trying to use very old and very new technology together to see what happens," he said.

In this interview via Drowned in Sound, Selway clarified that the band had worked from around autumn until the Christmas season before going on break. He added that the group went back to work last March and continue to assess and evaluate the work done so far. Still, Selway cautioned that there is still a long way to go before the album will be finished despite the group's general productivity.

"I wouldn't want to start to predict that kind of thing in a Radiohead schedule because you can find yourself six months down the line saying "I wish I hadn't have said that actually," he concluded.
