Previous rumors about the next Samsung phone, codenamed Project Lucky (although many have already concluded that it is the Samsung Galaxy S7), said that the device will be sporting two different CPUs for different variants. As previously reported, the international variant will run on the Exynos 8890 while the U.S. and China version will house a Snapdragon 820. However, it appears like it won't end there just yet as another rumor has recently emerged and this time, it claims that there will be another addition to the variants and it will run on an Exynos 7422 processor.

There have been many benchmark sightings a couple of weeks back that point out the possibility of the Samsung Galaxy S7 running on a Snapdragon 820 as well as on an Exynos 8890. However, according to GSM Arena, it seems like Samsung is planning to make more options for the S7 with the addition of the Exynos 7422 as the processor for yet another variant.

The Exynos 7422 was supposed to power the Galaxy Note 5 but it didn't happen. Industry sources, according to GSM Arena, strongly suggest that the South Korean based company is still trying to make the 7422 happen and the manufacturer will most likely equip the next phone with it.

If this rumor turns out to be accurate, this will be Samsung's first attempt at giving fans three variants of a handset. However, since an unnamed spokeswoman from the company has already told Reuters, "The firm does not comment on rumors or speculation," then Samsung fans will just have to wait and see.

For now, it's best for eager fans to keep an open mind with the circulating rumors and take it with a big pinch of salt until Samsung officially releases a statement regarding these claims.

There is no word yet in terms of the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S7 but many believe that the phone will be unveiled in early 2016.
