NBA Finals 2015 schedule: Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers preview
After a tough series of playoff games in the NBA, only two teams now remain as the Cleveland Cavaliers go up against the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.
Cleveland represent the Eastern Conference and will feature arguably the best player in the world in LeBron James.
Since coming back from the Miami Heat, James has helped Cleveland find their winning mentality, and this was on display in the regular season when they finished second in the East with a 53-29 record.
They began their post-season run against the Boston Celtics and the Cavaliers swept their rivals, but were sternly tested by the scrappy Celtics.
Even worse, they lost Kevin Love for the remainder of the season due to an injury – a big test early for James and the rest of the team.
However, when they moved over to the second round to face their rivals the Chicago Bulls, another star emerged in the form of Tristan Thompson.
It was a highly-anticipated match and both teams went head-to-head with buzzer beaters and physical play, but ultimately the Cavs outlasted the Bulls in six games to book their place in the East Finals.
Waiting for them was the top team in the East, the Atlanta Hawks. Aside from the Cavs, the Hawks highly impressed in the regular season and won 60 games.
Unfortunately, they were faced against a prime Cavs squad who would simply run over their opponents behind James' battle cry.
They swept the Hawks in four games and in each match, the Cavs looked deadlier than their previous game.
Now that they are in the Finals, James has another opportunity to give the city their first taste of a championship.
Standing between James and a title are the West's Golden State Warriors.
They have also had a phenomenal season as they won the conference and are anchored by the regular season MVP Stephen Curry.
Faced against the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round, the Warriors had little trouble dispatching the eighth seed as they swept the series with little to no resistance.
Many believed their toughest task was against the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round, but Curry and the rest of the crew dismantled the rugged Grizzlies to win in six games and march to the West Finals.
Waiting for them was the second-best team in the West, the Houston Rockets.
James Harden carried the Rockets all season and he was second in the MVP voting behind Curry.
However, all the other players stepped up for the Warriors as Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes all starred as they dominated the Rockets before eliminating them in five games.
Now they are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1975 and will enjoy the home court advantage as they try to end their own drought.
This is a scenario that many fans have predicted, but few know what the real outcome will be.
