'Avatar 2' news: The sequels will be more of a family saga, revealed James Cameron

(Facebook/Avatar)"Avatar 2" has long been anticipated as the first movie remains on top of the blockbuster list.

Director James Cameron rarely talks about the upcoming "Avatar" sequels and, in a rare interview, he shared that "Avatar 2" and the sequels that come after will follow Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and their children.

During an interview with Variety, Cameron shared, "The storyline in the sequels really follows Jake and Neytiri and their children. It's more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans." It would be remembered that Jake and Neytiri come from very different worlds.

Jake is a human sent to explore Pandora to join the team who was sent to see how the place could be useful for the Earth. Neytiri, on the other hand, is one of the Na'vis who inhabits Pandora. Humans take on the form of avatars, in order to survive the atmosphere in Pandora. At the end of the movie, Jake's consciousness was completely and permanently transferred to his avatar.

That being said, many are excited to find out how Cameron, who also serves at the head writer of the franchise, would tackle the union between the two. Would their children be considered Na'vis? Would they still be part human? Will they be able to survive both Earth and Pandora?

There are four sequels to be filmed simultaneously and, if everything goes according to plan, they will be shown two years after the other. Cameron spoke about the writing process to Screen Rant in July. He admitted to hiring other writers to work on "Avatar 4" and "Avatar 5" but still goes through the writing.

He said, "I've done that across all four of them. We knew that going in. We treated it as a writing room at the beginning and then everyone fed me what they could and I wound up with a thousand pages or whatever it was and now I'm going through it."

"Avatar 2" is scheduled to premiere in December 2018.
