'Avengers: Infinity War' rumors: Red Skull one of Thanos' henchmen?
Although the last time Red Skull was featured in a Marvel movie was via "Captain America: The First Avenger," the latest rumors suggest that the villain may be part of the highly anticipated "Avengers: Infinity War" as he may be one of the four henchmen Thanos (Josh Brolin) will employ.
According to the latest reports, Samuel L. Jackson has recently talked about the future of his Nick Fury character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). At one point in his interview, Jackson mentioned that his character was not featured in last year's blockbuster "Captain America: Civil War" because Nick Fury is busy with other things.
"You didn't see me in Civil War. I'm still out there trying to figure out what, you know, The Skull is going to," teased Jackson in an interview with Hot 97 recently.
Cosmic Book News believes that Jackson must have inadvertently revealed the fate of Red Skull in the MCU. To recall, Red Skull disappeared while attempting to use the Tesseract in "Captain America: The First Avenger" back in 2011.
The online publication suspects that, because of the Tesseract, Red Skull must have been transported to another corner of the universe, and Thanos must have found him. As it has been reported that "Avengers: Infinity War" will be featuring Thanos having four henchmen, it is now suspected that the upcoming movie may deviate from its comic book counterpart by having Red Skull as one of Thanos' henchmen.
As of this writing, the only Thanos henchman confirmed for "Avengers: Infinity War" is Terry Notary, who plays the motion-cap actor for Kong in the current blockbuster, "Kong: Skull Island." According to the actor, his character will serve as Thanos' right hand in the movie, although he did not go as far as divulging who his character is, pressumably because of his non-disclosure agreement with Marvel Studios.
"I'm playing Josh Brolin's right hand bad guy in the film. I can't say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop b******t and just play a character truly evil," Terry Notary told The Hollywood Reporter recently.
Is Red Skull really one of Thanos' henchmen in "Avengers: Infinity War?"
Fans can only speculate for now.
"Avengers: Infinity War" is slated to arrive in May 2018.
