'Bates Motel' season 5 premiere spoilers: What will Dylan do when he finds out the truth about their mother's death

After Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) murdered their mother in the previous season of "Bates Motel," fans are now wondering what Dylan (Max Thieriot) will do once he finds out the truth that no less than his half-brother is the culprit for the demise of their mother.

According to reports, even if Dylan and Norman have a certain kind of connection that binds them, it is alleged that things between them will change once the former confirms that it is, indeed, the latter who killed their mother.

"Even though they have complications and stuff happens to their relationship as brothers, they sort of seem to overcome them a lot of the time. But I think that this is something that is such a massive thing, can Dylan ever forgive Norman for what he's done to their mom? So I'm super excited and curious to see what the writers do this season and how they decide to sort of play this all out," Thieriot said in an interview with Showbiz Junkies during last month's San Diego Comic-Con.

Meanwhile, although it is true that the death of Norma (Vera Farmiga) in "Bates Motel" season 4 shouldn't have come as a surprise, as the character really dies in the movie, "Psycho," where the series is based, many people were still saddened by her demise on the show.

Despite being dead on the show, it is said that Norma will still be very much part of "Bates Motel's" fifth and final season as she will still be the center of the show, figuratively speaking — thanks to the obsession of the avid fans over the character, which has motivated "Bates Motel" in more ways than one, according to "Bates Motel" showrunner Kerry Ehrin in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last May.

With Norma now dead, and the series bowing down after the upcoming season, fans can now expect "Bates Motel" to portray Norman how he is in "Psycho." While it's true that some of the events in the upcoming season will intersect with the events in the movie, fans can rest assured that "Bates Motel" season 5 will be different from the movie where it is based.

"They will cross paths with some of the events in the movie and lead to an ultimate resolution. What that resolution is and how that plays out is something that will be not disconnected to the movie 'Psycho' but will be very much our own story in the same way the entire series has been," Ehrin said.

"Bates Motel" returns to A&E for its fifth and final season in 2017.
