'Big Little Lies' TV series: Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman confirmed, Hugh Jackman wanted on cast
Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will not only appear as stars in the upcoming TV series adaptation of 'Big Little Lies,' but the two Academy Award winners will be developing the production of the show.
Liane Moriarty's New York Times-bestselling novel is about a kindergarten school trivia night gone wrong, with the tales of the tree mothers entangling and unfolding based on that night.
It is also reported that David E. Kelley, who's also responsible for producing the hit legal drama series Ally McBeal, is set to write the TV adaptation and co-produce it alongside Kidman and Witherspoon.
Kidman's Blossom Films and Witherspoon's Pacific Standard, were presented with the book's manuscript, sent by Moriarty's US agent, before the book went into publication earlier this year.
Author Liane Moriarty feels excited about screening male celebrities that will play the roles in her novel, and says that she is hoping Hugh Jackman will be considered.
"Somebody suggested Hugh Jackman and I think he would be perfect for one of the roles and there's always a role for Matt Damon in any of my books. I just become silly and giggly when it comes to thinking about it," the author said in an interview to Daily Telegraph.
Moriarty feels excited with David E. Kelley re-writing her story for television.
"I love his quirkiness and also the fact that he combines drama and comedy so well," reveals Moriarty.
