'Chicago PD' season 3 spoilers: Voight tracks down culprit who abandoned baby in episode 20 'In a Duffel Bag'
Season 3 of "Chicago PD" finally returns with an all-new episode this Wednesday night following a month-long hiatus. In the upcoming episode titled "In a Duffel Bag," Voight and the rest of the Intelligence Unit launch an investigation after they discover a duffel bag that contains a frigid and unmoving body of an infant.
Voight, who is so shocked and disturbed by the case, will stop at nothing to find the culprit. He will do whatever it takes — even if it puts his job in jeopardy. He also wants to know what circumstances led up to the parents abandoning their baby.
In a sneak peek into the episode, the newborn baby is rushed to Chicago Med. Thankfully, the baby is still alive but in a very fragile state. Blood panels reveal that the baby is anemic and has sickle cell disease. This means that either one of the baby's parent has the disease, too, and is currently seeking treatment. Based on the information provided by Chicago Med, Voight orders his team to track down hospitals to narrow down their search for the potential suspect.
In another exclusive scene, Voight and the team have the baby's pajamas and blanket analyzed to see if they can obtain additional clues. Unfortunately, the duffel bag was promotional merchandise used by Punch Sports Club and was handed out to random passers-by so it will be difficult to track down. Nevertheless, Voight wants his team putting all videos and social media posts to facial recognition.
Meanwhile, Voight is also surprised to learn that his son is in town. Also in the episode, Burgess continues to grow close to Roman, to the dismay of ex-fiancé Ruzek. Given that all three work together, the growing relationship between Burgess and Roman will definitely complicate matters going forward.
To see how everything unfolds, be sure to catch "In a Duffel Bag" airing on May 4.
Season 3 of "Chicago PD" airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
