'Dancing with the Stars' news: Caitlyn Jenner will not compete in the upcoming season, publicist confirms
A former Olympian coming out as transgender is undeniably one of the most controversial events of 2015.
Bruce Jenner, who now goes by the name Caitlyn, has been prominent in most news outlets as of late and it does seem like she would soon be gracing the small screen as a contestant in "Dancing with the Stars."
The rumors of Jenner's involvement in the upcoming line up of "Dancing with the Stars" started when the show's veteran dancer, Derek Hough, gushed about wanting to partner up with Jenner come the next season of the reality show in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"I'm up for any sort of challenge. One thing I pride Dancing with the Stars on is taking chances, and doing things that are a little out of the box, doing things that are inspiring and brave. For me I say, 'Why not? Absolutely,'" claimed the five-time mirror ball winner.
While the statement is no guarantee that Jenner would indeed participate, the rumors of her being on the show is not completely unfounded especially considering the fact that members of her household have competed in "Dancing with the Stars."
On its seventh season, Kim Kardashian placed third to the last on the reality series while Rob who competed in the thirteenth season managed to win second place.
However, just a few days ago Jenner's publicist finally put the rumors to rest directly addressing the speculations in an interview with ET.
"There is not nor have there ever been any negotiations on this matter. They inquired if she was interested in participating in the show and I said no thank you. That is the extent of the communication."
Fans still fervently hope that they would see Jenner on the upcoming season of "DWTS." It would take the show's season premiere on Sept. 14, 2015 to finally confirm if she would indeed compete.
