Earlier this year, a leak revealed that "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" was in the works and in the beginning of June, the news was finally made official by Nordic Games.

Nordic Games recently released a number of screenshots from the "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" and compared them to the versions from the original game. Along with the images, the publisher released a statement from the design director, John Pearl. He stated that they were creating "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" so that it would run at 1080p and come with improved textures.

He also pointed out that among the improvements, gamers would get to see metal, leather and skin reflect light as they would in the real world. This improvement, he explained, had resulted from the renderer in the game being rewritten.

As for the official announcement of "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition," which arrived in the first half of June, the game's publisher stated that many of the members of the original team who worked on "Darksiders II" would also be handling the upcoming port.

"Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" will also include all of the DLCs that were released for the original game. These, however, will have reworked graphics thanks to the new render engine that is currently being used. As for other improvements, they will include re-tuning of balancing in the game and the loot provided to players.

Nordic Games has yet to announce whether there will be a "Darksiders 3" or not. And news about a third role-playing hack and slash game might not come soon as they indicated back in June that they will be focusing their efforts on the "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition."

"Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" is due to be released on the current generation of consoles -- the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime this winter.
