Dell XPS 13 upgrade release date, news: 2-in-1 Infinity Edge version of laptop posted on official website
Ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dell has subtly announced through their official website an upgrade to the XPS 13 laptop with a 2-in-1 version that supports Infinity Edge display technology.
According to the product placeholder, the upgrade is advertised as "Beauty without borders" and teased as being "the world's smallest 13-inch 2-in-1 with Infinity Edge display for virtually borderless viewing and gorgeous detail with optional UltraSharp QHD ."
The upgrade with model number XPS 13 (9365) is expected to be an improved form of last year's version of the XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop. A review by Windows Central's Daniel Rubino says that while the older XPS 13 (9360) version packs ample specs, "I worry that Dell is getting a little lax with its XPS 13 – which is arguably the top selling laptop in this range – and they are not innovating enough."
However, now that Dell has discreetly announced an improved XPS 13, Rubino noted on a separate report, "All of that is about to change this week when Dell reveals the XPS 13 (9365) a 'two in one laptop' that addresses at least one of my big complaints."
In the same report, Rubino notes that people can expect a newer variant the runs with a dual core Kaby Lake processing chip with similar random access memory capacity.
For a recap, the XPS 13 (9360) was released with 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB RAM options. Interested buyers can also choose between a 1080 pixels matte non-touch display or a Quad High Definition plus (QHD ) full touch screen panel.
The currently available XPS 13 has a USB 3.1 port capable of up to 10 GB per second data transfer speed and a fast Thunderbolt 3.1 USB Type-C port capable of 40 GB per second speed. It is packed with a 60 watt per hour battery pack and offered on color options Silver and Rose Gold.
For its dimensions, the 2-in-1 laptop measures 11.98 x 7.88 x 0.33-0.60 inches and weighs 2.8 pounds.
Nothing much is said on the product placeholder at Dell's official website except for the Infinity Edge display panel. However, reports are hopeful that the XPS 13 (9365) will be showed off during the CES 2017 event.
