"Dragon Ball Super" will soon unveil the heavily anticipated Future Trunks saga and fans can't wait to see just how formidable this new "Black" villain is.

Vegeta and Bulma's son from the future is one of "Dragon Ball's" most-loved characters, so the news that Future Trunks (or Mirai Trunks, as some fans call him) will be returning is very exciting indeed.

The Future Trunks story arc will commence in episode 47 of "Dragon Ball Super." Titled "SOS From the Future! A New Black Enemy Reveals Himself!," the episode will reportedly show the aftermath of Mirai finally ending the Android's reign of terror on the Earth of his timeline. But the expected peace will not last long as a man named "Black" will suddenly appear and he's far stronger than Trunks, even at his full Super Saiyan glory. As expected, Future Bulma will start to make another time machine that will enable them to ask for help from Goku and Vegeta, but even after a year of construction, she will only acquire enough fuel for a one-way trip. But before Trunks and Bulma can take action, Black will appear again.

The trailer for the upcoming episode doesn't reveal much, except for Future Trunks' drastically different hair color and the appearance of a young woman — Mai. However, a new teaser photo from episode 47 gives viewers a glimpse of this new villain, and he looks just like Goku!

The photo immediately had fans dissecting and discussing every aspect of the image. From Future Trunks' new look, to his probable relationship with Mai, even right down to the time machine's new design.

Of course, the majority of the discussion centered around Black Goku. Aside from the black clothes that Goku has never been seen in before, fans were quick to notice that this character is wearing a Potara earring. Fans will recall that Goku and Vegeta used a similar earring when they fused during the Majin Buu saga. The Kais and Demigra, the demon god from Dragon Ball Xenoverse, are also seen wearing Potara earrings. This has led to theories that Black might be the result of a fusion between Goku and a demon god or that the character has attained power similar to the kais.

Fans would have to go through the whole Future Trunks saga if they want to get some answers. Luckily, they won't have to wait long as "Dragon Ball Super" episode 47 is set to be aired on Fuji TV on June 12 at 9 a.m.
